2026 Shows May 8th and 9th October 9th and 10th Featured tractor is Farmall Featured Engine is Monitor

Tuesday Tidbits Tuesday Crew has been spending much of its precious time doing maintenance and repair on our equipment. The lack of rain has eased the frequency of mowing, but the tractors and mowers we use to manicure the grounds have clamored for attention. The Saw Mill still needs attention and we are looking forward to having it ship shape soon. Once it is working well again, we will be cutting lumber to support the construction needs we have. The Atlas steam engine shed is first priority, and after that, structures to protect our mowing tractors and several of the saws we demonstrate at the shows.

Fall Show The fall show was a huge success! We had great weather and great attendance. Our gate was well staffed well thanks to Robert Moore, Jeff Behmyer, William Banks, and Marli Melton. Financially, we were $4.13 less than last fall’s totals and that was a banner year. Fortunately, our sorghum crop survived floods and drought, so we could cook sorghum syrup. The brief rain on Friday afternoon soaked the oats at the threshing machine, so we couldn’t thresh Friday, and it was still too wet to thresh Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, several of the regular volunteers had to leave for other commitments. That left us short-handed, so there was no demonstration of the thresher or baler this year. We have a critical shortage of volunteers to help with demonstrations, so if that’s something you’d like to learn and participate with, remember that next spring. We’re saving the oats so hopefully we can thresh in the spring. This show, we had an interesting new demo. It was a buzz saw that ran off the rear tire of a Model T truck. It was a real crowd pleaser. The raffle tractor was won by Raymond “Tony” Farrar from O’Fallon, MO. Did you get to see the brilliant job of restoration on our Farmall? Thanks to May Schmitt for such gorgeous work. And check out her other paintings for the kids area. They’re incredible.

Club Meetings We have an election to tend to on November 3rd. The ballot will feature Jim Brassfield and Adam Wichman for the office of President, Steve Balough and Robert Moore for the office of Secretary, and four names for the two open board seats. Terry Brown and Pete Peterson are currently on the board. Doug Melton and Nolan Tate have entered their names along with Pete and Terry on the ballot. Members will vote for 2 of the 4 board candidates, and the two with the most votes will be selected. Joe Schmitt announced that he will be at the club grounds on Saturday, October 25th to work on some projects that are normally tackled by Tuesday Crew. Several members have shown interest in having an opportunity to help the club, but can’t come on Tuesdays. This is the perfect opportunity to pitch in. Joe hopes to establish the Saturday after club meetings as a regular work day for members who can’t make it on Tuesdays. We’ll discuss that at the November meeting, after we see the participation on the October 25th work day.

Raffle Ticket Sales Events We had brisk sales of raffle tickets this year, but the season wasn’t without its difficulties. We desperately need a volunteer to oversee the ticket sales. Their responsibility would be to keep tabs on the raffle tractor. They would schedule where and when the raffle tractor would be at events and who was transporting it. They are not responsible to transport it, only to coordinate its use. We lost some sales opportunities this year because of miscommunication between volunteers on when and where the tractor needed to be.

Congratulations! I’m excited to announce that Brenda Bartleson has been inducted into the EDGE&TA Hall of Fame. She has tirelessly and sacrificially served our club for many years. Thank you Brenda, you are a blessing beyond measure.
